Bianca Coleman

Volunteer/Coach

I joined the artful dodgers with my son who is apart of the SEND session about a year ago after watching my son grow in confidence and achieve things he never thought he could, this made me want to volunteer to be able to help others the same way they have my son. Over the past few months, I've grown a huge passion for the boxing and watching all the children progress every week always leaves me with a smile. I've recently passed my first aid and safeguarding and currently working my way through level one coaching so I can continue to help along side the SEND session.

Sharlene Bouche-Carter

Volunteer

I volunteer at the Artful Dodgers Boxing Academy. I started coming as a SEND parent. I loved how amazing the kids were doing and caught the boxing bug, so I started joining in. Now I'm a First Aider, Safeguarding Officer and working towards my Level 1 Coaching. This club has not only made my children's confidence grow, but mine too! I am one that will get stuck in with the kids, I will try anything and everything to help them grow and achieve their goal. Even if that means doing all the exercises with them. I am also there to support the parents along the way too.

Tony Callard

Coach

I have been involved in boxing since I was 7 years old. My father, whom I respected very highly, was a dedicated boxing coach who taught that you only get out what you put in. He always told me (and often shouted) this throughout my childhood and into my adulthood. I lived and breathed boxing seven days a week, constantly training locally or sparring at various gyms across the country to a very high standard. Now, my son is 12 years old and has made the decision to box and become a champion. He is eager to get fit and aim for victory. As a result, I have decided to take my England boxing coaching course, along with First Aid, safeguarding, and a fully enhanced DBS, all of which I have passed with flying colors. I look forward to helping many children in their boxing careers. With my vast experience and knowledge, I believe I can contribute significantly to the club and assist in keeping children off the streets and away from knife crime. In my opinion, knife crime has reached alarming levels, with children harming other children. I would much rather teach "jab and move" than "jab and stab" to help save a child's life.

Tom

Coach

As a youth that got expelled from every school I went to, due to being very highly strung and constant fighting, I ended in a naughty boys boarding school. My old man was advised by the duty head to take me to boxing because he could see a possible prison term in my future. I had a handful of fights as an amateur but unfortunately chasing women, lads holidays and donner kebabs got in the way. I have coached on and off for about 12yrs at amateur and pro gyms, I have my level 1 coaching badge among other certificates.

Lisa Bryant

Volunteer

I volunteer at Artful Dodgers Boxing Academy, I have many roles in the club. I am the Administrator, Safeguarding Officer and First Aider. My biggest achievement in the club is being the Lead Organiser of the SEND sessions. Seeing the lack of SEND activities in Portsmouth, and knowing how much these kids need an outlet, Andy Wells agreed to start this group. With my help and understanding being a parent with children with all different needs, our SEND sessions begun. The amount of joy and pride these children bring us, should all be bottled. There's no job too big or small for me, watching the confidence grow in our members and volunteers is what makes this club so special. I am always behind the camera, so no pictures of me.
